Lord Jesus, thank You for bringing Gale (Čhaŋté Wašté Wiŋ) into my life and for the time we spent together. I prayed for her healing, and although it didn’t come in the way I hoped, I thank You for making her whole again and bringing her into Your Kingdom of Heaven. Lord, she is Yours—and I thank You for the gift of being her husband.

Gale—you were one of a kind. You spread beauty and joy wherever you were, and you had a heart of gold. You cared deeply, and you gave of yourself in ways most people never see. You were the other half of my soul, and I miss you more than I can say.

With every year, you kept adapting and evolving… and I thought you were already pretty much perfect. You kept finding new ways to amaze me and giving me so many reasons to love you and celebrate you.

Every year I saw more clearly how deep your strength and beauty went. Every year I was more amazed by your heart, your humor—your everything. And every year I came a little closer to really, truly getting it… just how lucky I was to have you and your love.

There were times when I let the day-to-day have-tos and need-tos get in the way of sweeping you off your feet. And sometimes I forgot to remind you how amazing, how beautiful, and how truly loved you were. So I’m stopping today to say how grateful I am that I was the one who got to share this life with you.
